Letter from a Member

Jul 31, 2009 by JerryC

This letter is being written to address the importance of range rules and safety. The rules of the range are in place to protect members, neighbors and club property from injury and damage. (snip) I was observed firing a rimfire rifle from the rifle range at one of the silhouette targets which is a rule violation. At the time of the incident I had been the only person at the range all day. The reason I was shooting at the silhouette target was to verify the adjustment I had just made to my scope. I knew it was a rule violation but I figured that no one was watching and got complacent. After ringing the little ram another member whos presence I wasn't aware of asked for my badge. I was suspended for three months and was lucky that I was allowed to remain a member. In short, if you enjoy being a member at Anderson Co. Sportsmans Club - FOLLOW THE RULES.

Very good letter. It is always difficult when a member has to be disciplined for rules violations. The Board's handling of this situation appears to be fair. I think the member genuinely learned a lesson and will be better member . Good for the Club and the Member.
